What is a wedding agent?
Wedding is one of the most important and happy events in the life of the newlyweds. However, it can also be one of the most stressful. A wedding planner helps couples plan, organize and manage their wedding. Brides and grooms rely on their wedding planner to have a calming presence and be a voice of reason during the wedding process.
What does a wedding agent do?
Hiring a wedding agent is like buying peace of mind. It is worth the monetary outlay to make sure all the details are taken care of. A wedding planner usually starts by meeting with the couple for a consultation to understand their needs, wants and details of the wedding day itself. The planner will also ask what the couple's budget is and, based on that, explain what services they can expect to receive for that amount. Getting a clear sense and understanding of the bride and groom's taste and overall vision is important in order to get you a customized quote and design.
I, Tanya, your wedding planner, will present you with a contract for all the services we have detailed and that you will receive. As an experienced wedding planner, I have many contacts in the industry and have successfully organized many weddings. I will introduce you to vendors and services that can provide a lavish wedding, or those that specialize in catering small and budget events.
Some of the services I can provide as a wedding agent, are:
- Arranging the flowers
- Arranging the catering
- Arranging the printer (for invitations)
- Helping to choose bridesmaids dresses and other outfits for the wedding party
- Helping to choose the bridal gown/groom's outfit
- Helping to choose the wedding gifts
- Helping to design the look and feel of the wedding
- Helping with lighting and visual details
- Helping with all the details, that may have been overlooked
- Help in creating an overall unified feel and look
- Help in selecting, meeting and negotiating with cameraman, photographer, emcee, DJ, quartet, performers, etc.
- Dealing with unexpected situations
- Arranging the ceremony
- Setting the schedule for the wedding day
- Following the pre-wedding timings
- Dealing with any unruly guests (or uninvited wedding crashers)
- Controlling and managing your budget
- Controlling and managing any hired performers
Wedding planners many times have different roles. They tend to be entrepreneurial individuals, which means they are adventurous, ambitious, confident, extravagant, energetic, enthusiastic, assertive and optimistic. They are dominant, persuasive and motivating. Some of them are also conventional, which means they are conscientious and conservative.
What is the wedding agent's workplace and hours?
A wedding planner does not have a typical nine-to-five work schedule. Sometimes they have to work several days in a row, evenings and weekends, to meet all of the clients' needs.
However, most weddings are on weekends, so during busy months of the year, the wedding planner may not be able to be with you on the weekends. The busy months are of course spring, summer and autumn, i.e. April to November.
What do wedding planners do on the day of the wedding?
During the actual wedding day, hard physical labor is expected. Wedding planners are on their feet all day and late into the night. They could be helping with setting out tablecloths, moving boxes, lighting candles, placing flowers or putting out any number of small fires and overseeing a multitude of small details. It's mentally exhausting work as the wedding planner has to be on top of the game all day.
Are they happy at the end of the day?
The reward comes from seeing the sparkle in the bride and groom's eyes at the end of the day. Their emotion, admiration and happiness at everything I've created for them! And last but not least their words, "Tanche, you made our dream wedding come true"!
It's wonderful to be a wedding agent!
